この辞書は、アメリカのベストセラー辞書の最新の第11版である。第10版もよく利用させてもらった。この第11版はWin/Mac 対応のCD-ROMがついていて、HDDへのダウンロード出来るのは魅力である。
図版も良く出来ている。fingerprint等は、指紋の型まで載っている。他の辞書ではお目にかかった事がない。心理学や他の科学部門の米国大学の教科書を読むとき、この絵や表などは、非常に役立つものである。脳の説明、眼の説明等、図版を見れば一目瞭然である。
細やかな、このような配慮は、やはり伝統ある辞書である証拠である。

なんと言っても収録語が結構多い。 特に私は専門用語を調べるのに重宝しています。 Heritageも併用していますが、Heritageのほうに載ってない 語も本辞書には載っていることが多々ある。
また、独自の発音記号の表し方も良いと思う。 難解な単語などは、発音記号を調べる為だけに本辞書を引く こともあります。
一年間は無料でオンライン版を使用できる点も○。
